HOW IT ALL STARTED...
We know that everything but God, has a beginning. The device in your hand had a release date, the chair you’re sitting in rolled out of a factory. So, how did The Oaks Church begin?
The Oaks Church is the result of several people wanting to be a part of what God was already doing in the city of Cincinnati. In 2016, Terry-Lee and his wife, Abby, began praying about planting a church in the midwest. They had spent some time with a church plant in Chicago, and loved the city of Cincinnati. After serving for four years at Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, KY and going through the church planting residency at The Summit Church in Durham, NC their family moved to Cincinnati.
Families from Highview (Louisville), The Summit (Durham), Red Door (Fairfield), and other like-minded congregations came together to form the launch team of The Oaks.

What began as just a small group of prayerful people in a living room became a church as more and more people wanted to be a part of what Jesus was doing to make Himself known in Cincinnati. The idea was simple. With the goal of being planted as Oaks of righteousness for the glory of God and the good of the city, as spoken of in Isaiah 61, they began working toward forming a church.
On Easter Sunday of 2017, The Oaks Church held its first public service at John P. Parker elementary school. Since then, missional communities have been launched, people have been introduced to Jesus, acquaintances have become family, missionaries have been sent, and many people have been planted as Oaks of Righteousness in this city for God’s glory.
